Estate of Chorges : The region
Between Provence and the northern Alps, amidst valleys, gorges and mountains, far from the hustle and bustle, in a natural setting, 6 km from the village of Chorges.
The Hautes-Alpes, at an altitude of 500 to 4102 m, with abundant snow and a mountain life style, have a Provencal feel in the sunshine and mile summer days (300 days of sunshine per year) and a touch of the accent of Provence caps the mountain dialogue and the local cuisine.
Chorges, perched at 835 m, is a town standing on a backdrop of high mountains, clustered around a handsome Romanesque belfry. As you come closer, you will see the Saint Victor church dating from the 12th century, vestiges of the Roman era (Briançon-Arles Roman way) and the Middle Ages (ramparts). The cobblestone streets, a fountain made in 1548, and a 16th century door will take you back to the peaceful life of the past.
